August 9, 201212 yr comment_398142 I am currently using a generic $6 crank case breather on the end of the PVC hose as an interim road-draft tube (I just put Webers on the car). It hangs down near the corner of the inner fender and the rad support for the moment Edited August 9, 201212 yr by Blue Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44034-motor-has-greasy-white-froth-build-up-coming-out-of-block-breather/?&page=3#findComment-398142 Share on other sites
August 10, 201212 yr Author comment_398180 I agree, a rebuild seems unwarranted at the moment. The primary problem seems to be a lack of constant movement of air through the crankcase to remove moisture and other gasses. At this point even a road draft tube would help.I will do this and get back to you guys. Atm I suspect the head has a crack in one of the water jacket journals.I've just realised the milky oil maybe due to water from the catch can coming back into the crank case after a hard drive when the catch can was full of water. August 16, 201212 yr Author comment_398807 Went to get a leak down test done and after it was parked for 5 mins and restarted the dreaded white cloud came from the exhaust. It's definitely burning coolant and coming out of the exhaust as I can smell it.Will see what the cause is once I pull off the head tmrw. August 16, 201212 yr comment_398869 Head gasket?Unlikely, compression was even. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44034-motor-has-greasy-white-froth-build-up-coming-out-of-block-breather/?&page=3#findComment-398869 Share on other sites
August 17, 201212 yr comment_398942 Unlikely, compression was even.LeonV,Correct me if I'm wrong, but just because compression is even on all cylinders does not necessarily mean that the head gasket is good? That being said I have seen aluminum heads have pin hole leaks in the water jacket which causes water (coolant) to leak into the combustion chamber and thus causing the said issues. Either way the head should come off to see what the problem is. The head gasket is most likely to pop in the thinnest spot which sees the most heat, i.e. in between cylinders. That doesn't mean it happens there every time, it could've blown at a water jacket interface but that is less likely to happen. August 17, 201212 yr comment_399017 I had a leak that was difficult to pinpoint. Turned out to be the gasket in the front cover was weeping water into the timing area. August 21, 201212 yr comment_399377 Have you checked the pressure in the cooling system? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44034-motor-has-greasy-white-froth-build-up-coming-out-of-block-breather/?&page=3#findComment-399377 Share on other sites
