Posted August 11, 201212 yr comment_398265 I'm cleaning the outside and inside of my oil pan. It's off the car. The inside has black paint (I think) that seems to come off easily. What's the proper procedure (paint, coating, etc.) for the inside of pan before I put it back on engine. thanks alot, timsZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44069-inside-of-oil-pan/ Share on other sites

August 11, 201212 yr comment_398280 On mine that black stuff was old oil, looked like paint, I got some oven cleaner from walmart soaked it then sprayed with high pressure hot water at a car wash. Looked like new inside. I didn't paint inside mine just oil as Blue says. August 11, 201212 yr comment_398285 Since the pan has zero possibility of rusting from the inside out, just clean the gunk out and reinstall. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44069-inside-of-oil-pan/#findComment-398285 Share on other sites
