in the hunt for a new radiator/ opinions on this Ebay find

I have installed three of these in various Z cars. Two of them came with "microscopic" pin hole leaks in the weld. I used a rat tail file to make a groove over the pinholes and put a dab of JB Weld half the size of a pea. All of them are working great. I suggest doing a pressure test BEFORE installing it. Unless you want to do it the hard way later. On the third rad, I used the rubber caps that came with the radiator, clamped on. Then I stuck a ball inflation needle through the rubber cap, and pumped it to about 15psi. I used a bike pump with a gauge and let it sit for a day to observe the pressure. Of course the only one I tested, the third one, didn't leak.

Looks like the same one I got last year from MSA when they were on sale, $125 plus shipping if I remember. Seems like a must if you take any summer trips in the Southwest desert. Looks nice I think. Only thing, had to look all over to find the dash-6 to hose bib adapter for the trans cooler lines. Maybe this has them already? Running steel-braided from the trans was way out of my budget.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, it was order and delivered, got it two weeks ago, this afternoon after almost five yes 5 hrs, it is under my hood. Mandatory minor mods had to be done , as you all know my Z "FRANKIENZVETTEZE'' has Datsun/Nissan and GM parts and I want to keep the neat finished look on her. There was some steam after a good hard run to see if all was in order,I hope that it is coolant that was saturated on A/C condenser from the old rad leak and some that spilled during the refill . It was dark when I finished the install, so tomorrow in the AM's, a visual is in order...

How about some installed pics? I was looking at the same model but found this one with fans that looks tempting:

Well I did the am visual inspection all good.......................Kurbycar32 that rad looks nice ,as for the fans keep an eye on them ,as the life span on them is short,on my Z a GM source fan assembly fits nice with minor mods. Top picture as requested........;)
