Pulling engine and tranny for full rebuild

When you jack up the car you will not be able to get the transmission bell housing out unless the body work is at least 15.5" off the ground. Even then it will be tight. So in order to get the tranny out, go with TALLjack stands.

I've thought of another good return for my money spent on my rebuild, polyurethane bushings from Energy Suspension. There are cheaper ones on ebay but people complain about them for some reason or another. I got the Energy Suspension in black for around $165 and with the motor out you can install most of them a whole lot easier. Go through your rack and pinion steering also while the motor's out.

I was definately debating on all of that as well. I have read some of the debates on the bushings and thought it a good idea

I took this advise to heart and once I pulled the, already unattached, engine out of the engine bay, I was able to jack up the transmission with my floor jack, unscrew it and, with a friends help, just pull it apart from the driveshaft and completely out from the engine bay. I didn't even need the tall jacks to do any of it this way

That will certainly get you out of a jam! Great thinking

When you put the engine back in, you may have to remove the front bumper to get the engine far back enough. I would remove it now to save yourself the trouble.

I will keep that in mind. As for right now, I am going to fully disassemble and then rebuild the engine with some newer/chrome parts and then reattach it to the matching numbers that is already within the car that THIS engine is going into

When I bought my DD 260z the owner had already pulled the original engine, due to frozen #3 piston, and replaced it into the car that I just pulled the engine from (free with purchase of running Z). So hopefully reattaching it to the matching number tranny should be as easy getting it out. The only question that I have left in my head is weither or not to keep/sell/rebuild the tranny I just pulled bc it is in great running condition and a 5 speed at that
