August 28, 201212 yr comment_400008 Had this happen to me before. I ended up removing the ignition switch from the steering column, partially taking it apart and turning it from the back. I probably cleaned and lubed it too. Hasn't happened since. August 29, 201212 yr comment_400033 The only tough part was getting the ignition switch off the steering column. It required a hammer and chisel (screwdriver in this case) to remove the smooth-headed screws. August 29, 201212 yr Author comment_400037 did a search and the only advice found was basicly hit it with a hammer. tap the key four or five times to free a tumbler that might be stuck. i'll try that first. August 29, 201212 yr Author comment_400115 voila!!!! tapped the end of the key a few times and problem fixed. got the key out now i'll spray with silicone before i try it again. this hit it with a hammer works for a lot of things. August 29, 201212 yr comment_400123 This is often a symptom of the backside of the ignition switch going out - the part with the electrical connections. Replacement does not require removal of the switch assembly from the steering column, no new ignition key, ...etc. If you have no more problems, lucky guy. If sticking returns, there are lots of posts in the forum to get you through this fairly easy fix.
