fuzze Posted August 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2012 Morning all , i am in the midst of installing my new 6-1 ceramic header that was delivered last week and I have everything off and now I want to clean the manifolds and fuel rail to look like factory . I could polish out with power tools and paste , although all I want is to clean them up and make to look new . Any suggestions are always appreciated .thankz Chris
tlorber Posted August 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 30, 2012 I just saw a link on this site about boiling in lemon juice. I have not tried it, but it looked pretty cool.

CW240Z Posted August 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) I use this product on the intake manifold and other aluminum parts on my engine bay. It works great with a wire brush and lots of water. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/EAG0/665804/N0454.oap?ck=Search_aluminum_N0454_-1_555&keyword=aluminum&pt=N0454&ppt=C0209Chase Edited August 30, 2012 by CW240Z
TomoHawk Posted August 30, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 30, 2012 I've used that on the intake too, and it seemed to brighten it up. Just don't get any on steel parts or fasteners, or it will start to rust pronto.
Lazeum Posted August 30, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 30, 2012 Topic has been discussed on the following link.I've got fantastic results with glass-beading followed by ball-beading method.
grannyknot Posted September 5, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2012 I use a product called Armour Etch, it's a glass etching cream that you can get at most hobby shops. This stuff will take the shankiest aluminum and brighten it in less than a minute. An old tooth brush works well as an applicator and scrubber.
5thhorsemann Posted September 5, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 5, 2012 When it comes to cleaning aluminum, ask a trucker, their rigs are slathered with aluminum parts and they like em' clean. If you hit one of the big truck stops like a T/A you can find an abundance of cleaners for all finishes of aluminum parts from sand cast to high polished.
