dragonz1972 Posted August 4, 2001 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2001 HI Z world I have a 1972 240Z with a standard 4 speed. While the car gets warmer the shifter gets harder to put into first. It gets to the point where I can not put her into first or second gear. Sometimes in reverse the the sifter pops out of gear. whe she is cool everthing seems ok, New tranny? Any Ideas from the Z Gurus of the world. Thanks
nwa240z Posted September 14, 2001 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2001 I would suggest changing out the lube in the tranny and bleeding the clutch. I presonally have never experenced this type problem but taking a step in the maintence direction can help your search for the problem.ds
ninja240z Posted September 22, 2001 Share #3 Posted September 22, 2001 Sounds like the throw out bearing. Its not expensive! What happens is that the bearing is cold and doesn't move around too much.(A new bearing hardly spins.) When it gets warm it starts to spin loose especially when its worn out. It makes shifting difficult and it sucks. You will have to remove the transmission to change it though.
