I have made the acquaintance of a guy who has been mentioned here more than a few times. Keith Franck knows an amazing amount of information about the Weber side-draft DCOE carbs, and has invented and manufactured a number of innovations. Just last weekend, he had a 'tuning day' for Lotus owners who's cars use Weber side-draft carbs. He offered to include us Datsun peeps but it was really too late to set this up.

I am wondering if we have enough people who would attend a Tuning Day for us Datsun guys with Webers?

I have a friend with a restoration shop who would be willing to host in Sonoma CA... (Keith lives in the Martinez area).

We could have a BBQ and maybe even a drive, the roads through Napa and Sonoma are amazing!

Sound off if you're interested...

That's what I'm hoping for!

Is Mark still up for hosting? It would be wise to time it so that we can try out Keith's new innovations once he's got them figured out.

Mark is up for it... I have had perhaps a dozen different events at Mark's shop. We are good friends. Yes, I'm thinking March or April. After the rain but before it's too hot.

I'm getting pretty excited about the new developments Keith Franck has made in redesigning the tubes and jetting for the side-draft. It is apparently so good he is planning on patenting the design. So good, he can no longer publish the White Paper he had been just about to publish... So much progress it outdated everything he had to say!

Carb Clinic will be fun this year!

I will have to ask Keith about Mikuni's... One of our members here and a friend of mine Silver Streak, dropped off a Mikuni carb for Keith to look at and model. I believe that he developed jetting for it and I hooked him up with some Miki guys for beta testing but I have not heard anything from those guys. So, the answer to your question is maybe... Sorry.

BTW, I got another Z and another set of Webers, 45s this time (thanks to "theguppies" for the tip)! We'll see if I can get an engine rebuilt before the next tuning day... :)

I'm keeping the orange one as well, so I'm ready to roar either way!
