Posted September 22, 201212 yr comment_402314 So for today's surprise, i found a black wire, about 10-12 inches, both ends have wire eyes. One side was attached to the plate that secures the air flow meter, the other end was dangling. Any ideas where the other end should be attached? I cannot figure this out from the schematic in the owners manual. Is it my imagination or are the electrical schematics a little sketchy in the FSM?Dianne Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44477-phantom-wire/ Share on other sites

September 23, 201212 yr comment_402343 It's just a ground wire, from the aluminum body of the AFM to a mounting bolt for the base plate. The AFM is mounted on rubber grommets so, in theory, could be isolated electrically. Someone must have taken your AFM off in the past and didn't put the ground wire back on. In reality, the rubber grommets that I've seen are usually crushed, damaged or gone so the AFM body is grounded anyway. You could check continuity of the AFM body to ground to see if you need the extra wire. She runs though, so I don't bother. ;D Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44477-phantom-wire/#findComment-403590 Share on other sites
