Trouble aligning hood and headlight buckets

Recommended Posts

I removed the hood and headlight buckets my 240 to paint. Everything fit well and the gaps looked perfect pror to dissasembly.

However, now I can't get them to align on reassembly. The hood fits fine along the fender line but it sits too high at the headlight buckets. I can't seem to get it to adjust out. Any ideas????

See if this helps:

It's from a while back, but it should work for you.

Also another problem can be wear in the hinge pins allowing the hood to sit too high at the front, because you have run out of adjustment of the hinge in it's slotted holes. The torsion rods force the front of the hood upwards.

I just took the hood off my early 240z for restoration and found a P/O had enlarged the mounting holes.

As olzed says in post #4 the torsion rods pushing up in the front is probably why the modification was made.

Perhaps you could elongate the mounting holes of the hood as well as the receiving holes for the sugar scoops.
