Posted October 1, 201212 yr comment_403019 Well I finally got lucky and got a good cylinder head back from the shop with a new valve job. The cam checked out to be ok. I did not have them resurface the rockers arms, is this a big deal?:stupid: I have the "How to Rebuild your OHC Datsun Engine" and plan on freshening up on the cylinder head section this evening. The shop had to take 15 thousandths off the head, which I believe puts you right on the edge of needing shims, but they felt it may have been milled before, they don't know how much. How should I go about ordering cam tower shims? Any and all advice would be great. October 1, 201212 yr comment_403026 Delta Cams (deltacam.com) does rocker re-surfacing very reasonably. Not sure about shim suppliers. October 1, 201212 yr comment_403041 Go to a machine shop and have them cut some shims out of spring steel. McmasterCarr has shim stock if the machine shop doesn't. Measure the thickness of the head to find out how much was milled, the stock numbers are somewhere on the interwebs. October 2, 201212 yr comment_403061 Wherever the certain measurement is spec'd from. I would think from bottom to cam tower mating surface, or to valve cover mating surface. I haven't checked myself. Looks like stock height is around 4.25".
