hey all. the z's got me!! just wanted to introduce since i've been using the info in the community and am gonna need some more soon.

first off i'm a newb but i love driving. i've just been a tune up and minor things kind of guy. holding the flashlight for pops, that sort of thing. not too much experience either. always had little cars, early 90s tercel and the sort. until a rear-ender killed it. so time for another car, why not a new one? got a new corolla. economical, drove it everywhere. almost paid off and a rear-ender kills it. so time for another car, new ones are solid. got another corolla. almost half paid off, you guessed it, a rear-ender kills it. so time for another car... or maybe i just shouldn't be on the road, hehe.

didn't want to deal with payments and i had insurance $ so i was looking for a project. make it reliable and drive around in some style. i remember my older brother driving in a corolla and it being reliable and easy to work on. kept looking and didn't find one, ran into a z here or there and i thought "those look sweet but it's an old sports car, probably a pain." well now i needed a ride. i saw a post on a 260z, one picture, blurry as can be. not knowing anything about a z i went to check it out. this guy wanted to restore it little by little for his 10yo son. i thought that was pretty sweet, but he wasn't having it anymore. he didnt know anything about z's either not to mention he didn't even have a manual of sorts. said previous owner had it in storage and it was draining his wallet specially now that the carbs were being a problem. drove it around and it was rough, rattling everywhere, a smoker, but i saw it at about 75% "with some much needed love this thing could be great." looked under the hood, and my mind was blown. "where's the carb and what the hell are those two things?" and that's how it aaaall started.

so two months later i get my pink slip. my very first pink slip where it's only my name on it. my first owned car turned out to be a z. which led to my first very own tool set. i started to learn what i could and found out lots of the good/bad about the 260z. seems like we were meant to be. i drove it everywhere i could, even though i got exhaust fumes in the cabin. driving manual again :D. from driving little toyotas and hondas to a z was ridiculous. the z bug strikes. i had so much fun driving it that i want this car to be with me forever and i also wanted to level up my car skills. i got her running great but the flat tops were flooding on me and i noticed oil in my spark plugs and also got tired of getting high on fumes leaking from the muffler and the rattling. so now it was time to give back the love.

as of today she is on blocks with the suspension and carbs off and i haven't done anything for about 4 or 5 months. i was pilling up work like if i had experience so it was getting overwhelming but mainly cause of a wall i hit putting the suspension together, i'll thread that under suspension soon. now it's time to hurdle the wall and get the ball rolling again.

oh and i did cheat on her :ermm:. i missed driving a z so i bought a 280z out of bakersfield (and what an adventure that was) just so i can drive a z while my z is being worked on then sell the 280z; maybe have two z's (i don't know about having to make the decision every morning of which one to drive, but it sounds sweet). talk about the z bug. there went my funds for my 260z and now i have a 280z i don't drive because of a fuel leak and don't want to put $ into it, going back to my 260z. so i'll post that up for sale at some point here before posting else where.

i saw a z sitting on the street this morning on my way to work so big thumbs up to all the z's in the sf valley in southern cal. thanks for reading see you around

I did not know in California they did not have Shift keys on their keyboards?

It is right under the enter key. You should look into it.

LOL

Welcome to the forum where proper grammar is always a plus. As stated above, pictures would be nice.
