January 27, 200322 yr comment_24688 Horse-hockey!I think the 3.99 would go a lot further if you used it to buy a bottle of octane booster for the crappy gas we get nowdays. This fits right into the same category as the "atmospheric supercharging" farce! :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4457-what-do-you-guys-think/#findComment-24688 Share on other sites
January 27, 200322 yr comment_24689 Please tell me you dont believe that crap. That ebay seller has got scam written all over it. Do you really want to pay 4 bucks for something that is going to manipulate your system and give you 20 horsepower. I like how he doesnt even show you a picture of what he is actually selling. There is not one word describing what the mod is except that its a mod for the intake temp. sensor. Thats it! For all you know...he could ship you a piece of paper that says cut a certain wire then you are done. I wonder if this guy is trying to use a placebo effect on people, pyschologically thinking they have 20 more horsepower when they really have a busted air temp sensor. I also like how he says "use premium fuel for best results." Well for some people that would almost give them 20 more horses right there. That is if you've been running the cheap stuff this whole time. Oh yah...and check out all the sellers negative feedback too. There were some pretty p.o.'ed people out there. Sorry for venting so much, these kind of people tick me off Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4457-what-do-you-guys-think/#findComment-24689 Share on other sites
January 27, 200322 yr comment_24690 I just got done reading some of the feedback. What I want to know is why Ebay hasn't shut him down yet? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4457-what-do-you-guys-think/#findComment-24690 Share on other sites
January 27, 200322 yr comment_24693 Speaking of gas, is the expensive stuff really better? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4457-what-do-you-guys-think/#findComment-24693 Share on other sites
January 27, 200322 yr comment_24697 In a stock engine, high test is a waste of money. In a high performance engine designed for high test, it's a necessity to keep the engine running properly. You don't gain anything by running high octane in an engine that is not built to use the higher octane to its fullest potential.I usually used mid grade as some suppliers "regular" is a mix of whatever they can buy from the tank farm for the cheapest price. January 28, 200322 yr Author comment_24779 HaHa,Exactly the response I thought I'd get! No...I didn't believe it at all, but I was looking for more input on the "no damage from advancing the timing" bit. To my knowledge you can go too far and cause valve train "rattle" and damage due to the fact that the mix is exploding before the vavles finish closing.bonnie,Engines that have high compression (ie: ~10.25 or more) can explode the fuel due to heat and compression slightly before the spark from the plugs will...this condition is known as "spark knock" or more properly Pre-Detonation.2many,wouldn't it be more correct to say the high test is meant for high perfomance engines rather than the other way around? Holy cow man! Working on 2000 I see! Keep 'em comming! Are you going to New Hampshire this year? I'd enjoy meeting you!Anyway, thanks for the response everyone---God I love this Site!!! Anyone have any other comments on the Advanced timing issue.Nate:cross-eye Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4457-what-do-you-guys-think/#findComment-24779 Share on other sites
January 28, 200322 yr comment_24785 No matter what he says, If you exceed 35 degrees total advance, Melted pistons are in your future. You might not even hear the ping at load, at speed, fighting the aerodynamic drag, foot in the throttle, engine beating itself to death.
