October 26, 201212 yr comment_405351 if it is gas related, letting the engine idle by switching to neutral should pull some fuel back into carbs, hitting the throttle will let you know if with fuel inside carbs you've got some power back. November 5, 201212 yr Author comment_406117 Well the saga goes on. Quick review. I've completely rebuilt the fuel system. I just completed rebuild of the dizzy. both of these items has made a difference. The car ran like like a dream for 24 hours and about 60 miles, and then, starvation type systems again. I was able to crawl home at under 2000 rpms. A person earlier had suggested vacuum problems so I'm going to check every hose. Still open for any ideas. Has anyone ever had a problem like this because of the brake assist chamber? Thanks to all who have made suggestions to date. Things are getting better. It's been many years where I've had a collection of smaller problems all leading to one big problem. We must all really love these cars.Don Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44617-240-runs-out-of-power-under-load-ie-going-up-hills/?&page=3#findComment-406117 Share on other sites
November 24, 201212 yr comment_407571 Don,I have the same issue with my Z. It is a 72 w/ a L28/Auto. My power goes away on a hard right turn and takes a little while to come back after I get it back to the garage. The other day it took me 30 minutes to get up the driveway. The one thing we both have in common is the MSD coil. I found out that yesterday that it is better for the coil to sit upright. Mine is currently sitting on its side. It may have an issue. I'm going to replace mine and rotate it upright to see if it make a difference. I am currently running the electronic 280ZX dizzy. Please let me know if you find a cure.
