Can I have my machinist repair and rebalance this damper or will I need to look for a new one? Thanks. October 10, 201212 yr comment_403859 it would be way cheaper to get a another one than try to repair that. your old one probably needed a rebuild anyways. worn out ones have been known to seperate and fly off. sometimes into the radiator.since you're rebuilding and plan to keep the car a long time why not get a good used core andsend it in to these guyshttp://www.damperdoctor.com/i've heardgood things about them and their rebuild process.Rebuilding an L28 and I chipped off a piece of the damper closest to the crank. October 10, 201212 yr comment_403881 Ouch:disappoin. I would try fixing it. It would probably crack next to the weld (brital cast steel doesnt like being welded that much) and sending pieces flying straight through the bonnet. That sought of thing would happen to me if I tried it. October 11, 201212 yr comment_403928 So.....EuroDat, are you saying that he SHOULD fix it or SHOULDN'T? I'd say that there are enough if these motors around that you could find another damper.
