Posted October 14, 201212 yr comment_404154 Hello, i picked up a 71 datsun 240z, and i was looking at the brake booster today and wondering if its a 280z brake booster. What do you guys think? October 14, 201212 yr comment_404180 It looks like a later model brake booster. A 71 240z booster looks something like this:http://www.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imagekey=258880&imageurl=http%3A//my.cardone.com/Imagesftp/53/535245-01.jpgChase Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44670-is-this-a-280z-brake-booster/#findComment-404180 Share on other sites
October 14, 201212 yr comment_404189 I am not an expert, are the mounting holes the factory ones or was it modified. Mine is a 72 and she came with a 71 booster, a 72 booster will not fit on my Z existing holes, a 280Z booster is a popular mod but does required re-drilling mounting holes................FWIW Edited October 14, 201212 yr by 72 OJ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44670-is-this-a-280z-brake-booster/#findComment-404189 Share on other sites
October 14, 201212 yr comment_404191 Just looking at the resiviors and caps, it looks later than 73, the length looks rite, but the booster itself is much larger in diameter. October 14, 201212 yr comment_404204 If you replace it, beware that your piston length may be different. I remember doing this quite a number of years ago and used a later model booster. I quickly discovered the piston length difference when my brakes didn't work !! Anyway, my point is to make sure you buy both the booster and the piston if you end up replacing it.
