Lets talk Spark Plug wires!!!

Recommended Posts

Besides performance, my main concern is to keep the RF noise to a minimum, or none at all.

I'm not too crazy about what color the wires are, but why do they have to be so much longer that you think they should be, especially when the description says they (MSA brand NGK wires) are custom made for the L28 engine? For the American-made engines, the wires pretty much hug the block or head all the way to the spark plug. The MSA wires are all about 3 or 4 inches too long. I've knocked one off a few times while checking the oil or working on that side.

tomohawk, with the mallory, the number 6 plug wire is about 2 inches further away from where it should be. So all the Taylor premade stuff will not fit any more. The OEM NGK are plently long and do fit quite well, but I wanted non resistor type wires for the uber low resistance. It probably does not make bit of difference performance wise on my mild 2.8. But I figure you can never have too healthy an ignition system.

First, perhaps we should start a group called "ignition wire annonymous"...

I made a set of wires using clear insulator wire from a hot rod shop. They looked great and worked well, but I damaged one them, so they had to be replaced. It's easy make the wires any way you want them, and only takes about 30 minutes. Problem is, it'll cost you about $60.00.

I like the NGK's, but curently have some cheap Napa wires on the car, (don't remember the brand). I plan to switch them out soon with a set NGK's sitting on my shelf. Just wish they still made the semi-transparent blue wire sets.
