January 28, 200322 yr comment_24821 They should fit with no problems, but I'm wondering why you say the earlier ones won't as they ought to as well. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4472-seats/#findComment-24821 Share on other sites

Any 240Z or Early 260Z Seat (at least.....and maybe even 280Z seats too) should fit in any 240Z. I have personally used 73 seats in a 71, I currently have a 71 seat in my 72, and I have a set of 73 seats that will eventually be in my 72. The 73 seats have been in the 72 for a few days, but are not in it currently. No modicfications were required for any of the seats I've had in my 240Z's.Now, there are differences in the seats. 70/71 seats did not have the recline mechanism like late 72 and 73 seats do. They had a dial that could adjust the angle of the back a small amount, but could not "recline" the seatback to a great degree. The 73 240Z seats also had springs in the seat cushion, rather than the rubberized straps that the earlier seats used to support your arse. These "sprung" seats are much more comfortable than the earlier ones, but are still not great seats......just the best that Datsun (Nissan) offered for the 240Z. January 29, 200322 yr comment_24834 I don't know about 75 and 76, but 77 and 78 are quite different in the mounting brackets. There are raised lateral humps on the floor at the front bracket area and the front of the brackethooks over it. The seats attach MUCH easier than 240 seats, as they are like most modern seats, using a 14mmcap bolt through the top into a nut welded inside the body. The front bolts are parallel to the road. 240 seats are a PAIN!steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4472-seats/#findComment-24834 Share on other sites

January 29, 200322 yr comment_24936 The sliders from 75-78 are the same, but, if I'm not mistaken, the sliders will fit onto a 240 seat so that you could use any of them, just change the sliders. January 31, 200322 yr comment_25162 Since were talking about seats. My 73 does not have the "vents" in the back. I'm talking about the four quarter size screen looking things that would be around your lower back while seated. I thought maybe my seats were some cheap reproduction but they look fairly stock. Probably were recovered by a local upholstery shop. Many of us back in the day would have them redone locally and almost all of those were done without the breathers (vents).
