Posted October 25, 201212 yr comment_405223 I am working on the front suspension of my '72 240z. The car came with yellow King lowering springs already on it and I would like to keep them for now. It also had KYB GR2's on it that are now shot, no telling how long they have been on the car. I have seen threads of guys talking about good and bad luck with running KYB's and lowering springs. Have KYB's gotten better at handling lowered cars? I know Tokico Blues and Illumina's are a top choice but are out of my budget at the moment. Any input is greatly appreciated. October 25, 201212 yr comment_405257 With any shock its really important to use good bump stops (except Bilstien which have internal bump stops). For both the Tokico and KYBs, if the shock bottoms the piston valve hits the foot valve and damages the shock. My guess is that's the cause of the KYB shock failures with lowering springs. October 26, 201212 yr Author comment_405306 Thank you John. I have ES bump stops for the struts so I have moved forward with the KYB's. Now I just need to get the stuck strut cartridge out of the strut tube.
