Just got my first Z!

My 1972 240Z finally got here from california. The body is in pretty good shape, with no detectable rust (except under the battery tray, but the previous owner says it has been there for a very long time) and found no bondo while checking with a refridgerator magnet.

I have a few problems though: I don't have an owners manual yet, and when I checked the oil, it was extremely low! The treaded part of the dipstick wasnt even oiled up when I pulled it out, and the oil that was on the tip of the dipstick was pretty dark in appearance. I plan to change the oil tommorow before I even THINK about driving it anywhere else, and I need to know how many quarts of oil it takes, and what type of oil and oil filter you experienced owners recommend.

Also, for other Texas members, what exactly do Texas inspections include for a car of this year? The owner told me the reverse switch in the tranny is missing, so I think this would be in violation, correct?

I will upload some pics in the next few days.

Thanks,

Andrew

The more you drive it and the more your under the hood the more you learn about the car !!!! Welcome to club !!!!
