5 spd transmission mount

The shiny black one is from an Auto Z. I had one on my 240 with a five speed for a while, and then fitted a manual mount, similar to your old looking one.

I could tell no difference in the way it functioned.

The older one is from the manual trans. Either will work.

Well there ya go . Maybe they made special manual mounts for NZ. rough roads. or JDM vehicles.

Mine is a 72 auto/manual conversion as well, and came with the same type ie the shiny black one. The other type of mount I fitted later came off a 72 manual I was told.

Is there some crossover of mounts.?

Well that is strange, never seen a question yet that stumped this forum. :)

I just assumed that one was for the 4 spd and the other for the 5 spd .

The weird thing is that the bigger rusty trans mount not only has that flat spring but is built to handle at least 4 times the weight of the smaller shiny mount. The smaller mount weights maybe 1/2 a pound if that, the larger one probably 4 lbs.

I guess I'll use the lighter one since it seems to be working for you guys.

Thanks,

Chris
