Posted November 5, 201212 yr comment_406167 I bought a used (15,000 Km) performance L28 a while back and just got the cam specification card. I was told it was a "hot" cam, can you guys confirm that? It is not a Crane cam but a Nissan one that was reground to Crane specs by a good shop. November 5, 201212 yr comment_406169 That's a pretty "mild" cam. It has a bit more lift and duration than stock but nothing dramatic. It would probably get you a little bit more top end without sacrificing mid-range and idle. I bet it wouldn't change the engine's behavior much at all. Looks like they kept the lift low enough to re-use the stock valve springs (EDIT: although for whatever reason, they say to only use the specified springs). November 6, 201212 yr comment_406181 Stock valve lift is ~ 0.41" the specs for that cam are 0.45" so ~ 10% more lift.Stock duration is ~ 240/248 degree, that cam is ~ 262/272 degrees so it will work better at higher RPM's.As LeonV said, it is not hot but it is better than stock. November 6, 201212 yr comment_406198 Its a mild "drivable" street cam. You would notice a small increase in power. I have one with a similar grind and it make for a good daily driver.See link for more general info on crane cams. http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/I tend to agree with his method of thought, but then again I don't race my car. I did know a guy using a "hot" cam and he was proud about it, but the car was a shocker to drive on the street under 4000rpm. Dam thing kept stalling and running rough. He never raced it so I never saw to point in it.Its not just a question of putting a cam in and driving it. Everything has to match or it wont work to full potential. November 6, 201212 yr Author comment_406283 Thanks guys, it's not what the seller told me but it's not a bad thing either. The car will be a weekend fun car so driveability is probably more important than grunt. I have a feeling that these SK triple race carbs are going to be wasted on this car, but I'll give them a go first. I may keep them just for that induction sound.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44864-cam-specs/#findComment-406283 Share on other sites

I don't know Blue, your 1st offer was a set of SU's now I get cam as well as SU's, how soon before I get cash? I'll give the SK's a fair shake but I have to admit I'm leaning towards Bruce's SU's (Z Therapy). If I do let them go I will call you first.
