Next Project Car

I recently picked up this car after knowing about it for a year or so. I'm technically the 2nd owner of it, and plan to do a light factory spec restoration on it. It's an original 76' java green tr7, with a newer 80s model engine. It's a great little car, no rust, minimal electrical/mechanical problems, and a solid foundation to invest a little and hopefully make a small profit in the end. Being English, parts are always hard to find and odd to get to. I'm sure as I dig into it the "craftsmanship" these cars were made with, other problems will start to show through. Fortunately I haven't spent much getting it, so I'll be able to properly fix any found issues.

I only have one low quality picture of it before it was home. I'll get a few more once things settle down.

Odd color but I've always liked those cars. Dated a girl that's Dad had a TR8. That thing was quick! Only got to drive it when he would go out of town.

Congrats on the new acquisition! That is a cool car. You are going to cover all the bases with your car collection soon, even if this one won't be around for very long.

The color is a bit weird. I think that's what attracted me to the car. Hardway, I talked to you about your Z a few months ago but never heard back. How's it coming along?

My roomates TR7 was the very first two seater I drove. That thing handled like a dream and had plenty of power even with two people in it. His had a crank open cloth roof that kept it nice and comfortable in side. Only problem was we lived in southwest Mississippi in the mid to late 70's and the olny dealership that could work on it was an hour and a half away in Jackson. It had what I seem to remember were factory Zenith carburettors that had chronic problems. He had no idea how to work on it so whenever it had issues it meant a HUGE tow bill for his Dad who was needless to say not happy. If you plan to keep it I would suggest a conversion to a good Japanese or Italian sidedraft. We drove all over SW Mississippi and NE Louisanna in that rig. I'm 6'2" and it had plenty of leg room. I almost bought one when I was in the Air Force but once again the closest dealer was 1.5 hours away in North Dakota. The harsh winters would have killed it.
