Brake master cylinder interchangeability

Hi guys.

I´m located in Colombia, and it´s not easy to find parts for my 280ZX.

I have been experiencing problems with the brake master cylinder and the repair kits i have found here. Looking everywhere I found a brand new Tokico 7/8 master cylinder that it fits right, and the seller says that is intended for the ZX, but the cylinder of my S130 is 15/16. The question is, is it posible to use the 7/8 one or not?

One more thing, repair kits are universal, I mean, can be use on both Tokico and Nabco cylinders?

Camilo,

Have you looked at Rock Auto? They might have a 15/16" rebuilt cylinder. Same goes for NAPA Auto, (where I got my ZX master a couple years ago). Both places will ship parts.

Thanks Julio, both places have remanufactured cylinders, if tomorrow I can´t find the repair kit intended for the nabco one, i´ll go that way and buy it online.

Wow, long time ago......

 

I found a Nabco kit and everything went right.... but, first I tried a Tokico kit, and the pedal got so hard and the brakes got so much pressure.

I'm curious. Was there a visual difference between the two kits? It seems to me that bleeding would account for the hard vs soft pedal.
