Posted December 1, 201212 yr comment_408150 Hey folks... These cracks weren't there when I bought the car ((I'm pretty sure I'd remember seeing them if they were). Anyways, they're there now. Whats my best option for getting these fixed? Thanks Edited December 1, 201212 yr by b_art Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45058-some-paint-cracks-how-to-fix/ Share on other sites
December 1, 201212 yr comment_408152 Those are cracks in the leaded seams under the paint that are showing through, They can be fixed by any good body shop, with lead or more recent materials-not that many shops still know how to use lead... December 1, 201212 yr comment_408155 Mine always had them, I hated the sight of them. Was leaded up by an older guy before the re-spray. Smooth as a baby's cheek now. December 2, 201212 yr comment_408203 The roof is spot-welded to the body, then the groove filled with lead. The best fix, (that I know of), is expensive, but works well. That is to remove the lead and bead-weld the joints, which minimizes flex between the panels. After the bead-weld, just fill the remaining groove with modern filler before applying new paint.
