Posted December 11, 201212 yr comment_408907 Could someone tell me what is on the rear lower panel below the bumper. There is a strip a foot or so long with 5 or 6 holes in it below the bumper. I can't remember and I can't find any pictures of what goes there. there are 2 holes below that and 2 holes off to the 1 side also. Any help on what goes there? I'm not talking about bumper holes. Thank you. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45138-rear-lower-panel/ Share on other sites
December 11, 201212 yr comment_408909 Car and year would help. I have a 76 and all I see is a body-colored panel that flows with the body lines, with nothing on it. I think that there's a notch in it for the exhaust pipe.Your description of what you're thinking about is not very good. December 12, 201212 yr comment_409048 Mine had an optional air dam that mounted with the bolt-pattern that you mention for a 240z. Its in pretty rough shape so I pulled it off and its sitting in my attic right now. I believe it was to provide some stability at higher speeds. December 12, 201212 yr comment_409049 Could it have been something to do with a tow bar. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45138-rear-lower-panel/#findComment-409049 Share on other sites
December 12, 201212 yr comment_409053 What has been described as possibilities sound like things mounted to the front of the car, not the rear. Depending on the sizes of these extra holes you're car may of had some sort of body kit on it at one time. Pictures as always would be nice for a better guess. December 12, 201212 yr comment_409057 It sounds to me like you referring to the welds that attach the rear panel to the rear cross member. If that is the case, nothing goes there. If you are referring to other holes, they are not stock. -Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45138-rear-lower-panel/#findComment-409057 Share on other sites

December 13, 201212 yr Author comment_409127 Thank you very much Mike, and others. The PO had done something to it, but I had to cut my back panel out completely and do some repairs. It's welded back in and looks great. Except for the welds your talking about. I guess I should have known that. Thanks again.
