USA model is ok for Europe ?

But the DATSUN 240Z has only a capacitor.

The condenser is close to the voltage regulator, or near the coil and resistance, as in some brochures for the U.S. market.

Or attached to the alternator, as in the later models to 240z.

Can anyone confirm?

datsunnyit: try this thread starting with post #68. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread37900-3.html . all of the condenser/capacitors are the same on the car. The one at the coil is the noise suppression one for the radio. Most newer DVM's will have a setting to measure capacitors, but that will not always be a true indication of one failing. As far as your other questions, there is no link to the photos in your post.

Your question G) about the check valve. The check valve is there to hold vacuum in the brake booster when under full throttle and heavy loads. Thats when the engine manifold has little vacuum. This way it can maintain regular high vacuum under different engine manifold vacuum conditions. The arrow should point to the engine. Thats the direction of flow.

Just seen your foto on the alternator question (E) . The White/red wire goes on the terminal marked Active (A) on later models its (BAT). The Black wire goes to the ground (E) Earth terminal.

The photo with the starter motor, I think that is question (G) is a ground wire for the chassis.

You need to check the Coil wiring. The balast resistor is not wired correctly. Its a lot different to the 280Z. Have you tried the FSM. You can download it from http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html. That should help you with the wiring.

Looking at the photo of the starter motor. The car looks really good from what I can see. Can you post more photos?

Blue is Power

Red is Power for the face plate light

The radio is grounded via the screws that hold it to the metal frame of the dash - so you have to have a good ground on the dash frame.

In Your Picture titled "5 Wires".

"A" - Connectors wrapped in Blue Tape on wiring harnesses - were not originally used in your car. However in some cases they can be used.

The Black & Green Wires can be jumped together - with a jumper wire that includes an inline fuse holder - to send power to the connectors by the Fuel Tank - to power an electric fuel pump. If you want to add one. The connectors at the fuel tank are also wrapped up in the wiring harness back there.
