HELP Windshield Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone;

Got an early 74 260z with a cracked windshield. A local glass specialist will install a new windshield for me at a reasonable price (don't wanna do it myself), but he cannot find or order the actual windshield. He says it's not even listed in his book.

Where can I find a windshield for this car? Will a 73 240z windshield fit? I want it to look and fit properly. I've got the guy ready to install it... now all I need is to find the right windshield at a decent price.

Any help, parts sources or advice would be appreciated. Starting from scratch here. Thank you!

Any S30 240Z 260Z 280Z windshield will fit-they are the same 1969-1978!

The Local GlassMasters delivered and put one in a 240Z for me recently for $150 inclusive. Took a day to order and get in.

Will

PS: Just in case it needs to be said, a 280ZX windshield will not fit!

I just like to use period-correct parts and such when I have to replace things. It always seems funny to see a digital CD-receiver in a model T. Sometimes you don't really have a choice when you have an out-of-production car that's not American-made.

Is it OK to have the blue tinting across the top? I don't think my original had it, because I feel strange looking through the new one (from PPG.) I suppose most (judges) won't care, unless you are trying for the gold award

I'm trying for the checkered flag award. ;)

Sometimes you don't really have a choice when you have and out-of-production car that IS American-made, like my El Camino.

Well, this just gets better and better... now the glass company says PPG (which has been bought out and is no longer PPG) does not carry this windshield any more and I need to find one from another source.

Any ideas? Thanks!
