Posted January 4, 201312 yr comment_410829 Swapped out my stock springs for Eibach Progressives. Left the KYB inserts alone as they had less than 20K miles on them. The springs did drop my car the advertised amount (1 1/4 inches) but now one side of the rear of the car sits at least an inch lower than the other. The fronts measure the same. My ride has gone south and feels like I am getting irregular bouncing when going over bumps. I have two questions. Is it possible that I blew out one of my rear strut inserts with the Eibachs and that's why one side is sitting lower than the other? Could one blown out insert make the car bounce as much as I am experiencing? I know about the supposed incompatibility for Eibach Progressives and KYB's but it seems strange to me that one side actually now sits lower than the other. I'm not happy with the look or the ride. I'm considering replacing all the insert with Tokikos but want to make sure that's going to solve the problem before shelling out $400. January 4, 201312 yr comment_410852 Get a flashlight and see if the bump stops are sitting or nearly sitting on the strut tubes. If one side is 1" lower or its already sitting on the bump stop then you may have a blown strut. As you mentioned these kinds of issues have been reported before but there are owners who have successfully used this combo. I am sort of in the same boat with my '72 only I have a set of King lowering springs that the PO put on. With my new KYB cartridges in I am less than an inch off the bump stop. January 4, 201312 yr comment_410853 The shocks don't hold the car up, the springs do. If one corner is lower then the others check to make sure the spring is properly seated and that you have the correct springs on each corner of the car. January 4, 201312 yr comment_410891 Eibachs and Tokicos and/or KYBs work great. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45317-eibach-springs-and-kyb-strut-inserts/#findComment-410891 Share on other sites
January 5, 201312 yr comment_410919 I also agree they work and ride great. Also check for binding. Tightening everything up really really tight after changing everything without letting it settle could be part of it. One of the rubber top insulators might have let loose/rippred but more than likely your springs aren't seated right in the top hat as stated before. Did everything slide in easy and bottom out?
