Posted January 4, 201312 yr comment_410896 I was driving today in my '78 280Z and all was well, but after I briefly switched on the hazards, the indicator switch no longer works. Pressing the hazard button still makes the lights blink, and the headlight dip still works so the stalk itself is still functional... Fuses seemed fine as well.I'm guessing it will be something simple and silly, but does anyone have any idea what would be causing this? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45323-indicators-stopped-working/ Share on other sites
January 4, 201312 yr comment_410899 By "the indicator switch no longer works" are you referring to the Turn Signal Stalk no longer actuating (turning on) the respective R or L turn signals? If so, it might be as simple as wiggling your Hazard Switch to ensure that the T/S contacts within make contact again. Alternatively, it could be the T/S flasher that went out on you.FWIWE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45323-indicators-stopped-working/#findComment-410899 Share on other sites
January 4, 201312 yr comment_410901 It could be a bad flasher, a bad fuse, dirty contacts in the switch, a bad hazard switch (It interrupts power to the turn signals.). The turn signal circuit is completely independent of the headlight circuit other than the mechanical lever, so headlight functionality is irrelevant. Do you or a friend know how to use a multimeter? (If yes, I can give you diagnostics.)Did you check the fuse with a meter or just look at it?Have you downloaded a copy of the FSM? it has a wiring diagram. January 5, 201312 yr comment_410939 Indicative of a bad re-connect within the Hazard Switch when you turned it off. That's why I mentioned actuating it, it has happened to others before.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45323-indicators-stopped-working/#findComment-410939 Share on other sites
