How many does that make? I have had subscriptions to all of the Z mags and have watched each and every one fail. At least this time, I got out before they went belly up. Every other time, I renewed just before the doors closed. I hate to see this happen, but unfortunately, I think it's clear that a magazine devoted to Z cars, Datsuns, or even all Nissans isn't a viable venture. I doubt we'll ever see another one pop up.

Let's face it. The internet community makes the magazine business difficult, especially for one focused on a small population.

Heck, I cancelled my C&D Magazine subscription because I didn't like their automatic renewal policy.

Steve & Jeff have it pegged. The market for something as narrow-focus as a Z/Datsun/Nissan magazine is too small to support one in the Internet Era. Do I like it? No. But there aren't enough paying subscribers to support the cost to publish, and advertisers won't pay to be in a mag that has low circulation numbers.

I cancelled my R&T several years ago, when they stopped doing real-world relevant stuff. I do still get Classic Motorsport, as well as Hemmings Sports and Exotic, as they still scratch my itch better.

So if I'm reading between the lines correctly, you guys are saying you want to come together and start an online publication for Z-heads? The amount of original content and tech articles you gents post here would certainly be enough to keep a daily blog-style publication (BaT Style?) rolling, and you have enough Nissan/Datsun friends that you know would share their thoughts, hints, photos, and track day experiences to keep it going.

I wasn't thinking in that direction per se, but I did start my own blog a month ago, publicizing it in my signature and on FB. I plan to use it to capture what I've learned about the 240Z & 260Z electrical systems and to document with pictures car related experiences. I have linked to Phil's tech tips and other sites I think are useful, too.

The advantage is that it is there for people all over the world to find. I don't have to hold to any publishing schedule, and I can promote it when and how I see fit. In the end, I can see websites like that providing a lot more to the community than a quarterly magazine that goes out of business every 3 to 5 years.

I was an R&T subscriber since 2000 and did the same thing, cancelled it a few years ago. I also got tired of the same "super-car" crap over and over. They've got new leadership now and are supposedly going to a different, more grassroots approach.

With that said, the only two magazines I subscribe to are GRM and CM, and don't plan on adding any more. I have trouble keeping up with reading them all as it is...

Since most of the Z related content is already free here on the Internet, there's no paying model that would support an Internet magazine. I cancelled my subscriptions to all car magazines way back in 2008. I got tires of the reprinted press releases from various car manufacturers.

I was an R&T subscriber since 2000 and did the same thing, cancelled it a few years ago.
I grew up reading my dad's R&Ts in the '60s and '70s. Subscribed on my own as soon as I moved out on my own in '76. Was a subscriber for over 30 years, although I waffled on canceling for at least the last 5. Haven't missed it, as CM and S&E suit my interests better.

A friend of mine is doing the same; documenting his build. While his grammar leaves something to be desired (Jason if you ever read this, 'u kno im right'), he's an incredible mechanic and attempts projects I wouldn't dream of under crazy timelines: http://zgoldschlager.tumblr.com/. This blog just got started, so he'll be keeping it going. I'll be doing the same thing with both my '70 and '71. Helps keep me organized. Others (Arne) have done incredible sites for Datsuns and, now, 911's.

So instead of 10 people doing individual free blogs, you combine them all together under one platform, and each day there's an update or two from some, but not all of the projects. You build a community around it with comments (BaT style), sell your advertising space, get individuals who attend Z-Car shows around the country to write articles with photos occasionally and boom: There's how you keep a profitable publication going in the digital age.

Good. I never read my required (it comes with Z club dues) subscription anyway. they only had a small article on the 240Z project, so the magazine was of absolutely no value to me.

OTOH, my new 30 inch computer screen will be great for reading online periodicals. I hope they let you print or save the pages (for a small fee of course!) LOL

Nostalgic Hero is by far the most beautiful car mag I've ever seen. It's about classic Japanese (almost exclusively) sports cars and from the few issues I've seen looks like there's something for Z-car people in every issue, interviews, hi-def photos, tech articles, even CD's of classic car shows and nostalgia races. Wish they'd put out a version in English. Wish a subscription was cheaper than buying it issue by issue online or at the bookstore, but no.

Import Tuner seems to have a Z or ZX in about every other issue - usually with a wild GT-R engine swapped in.
