240z rebuild / restoration right down to the shell

So I have spent the last 2 months farting around with an engine that I can't get to idle but while I'm waiting for rebuilt carbs to to arrive from ZTherapy I manged to get some stuff done

Here is the SU balance tube project I started last summer,

then I put it on the shelf because I thought I would use the triples instead, now that I'm back to using the SU's I finished it up. How is this for a smoothed balance tube?

Throttle will be actuated by a cable instead of the old Mechano set linkage.

I sure am paying for all that progress I made during the winter, I am getting it finished though,

all pretty self-explanatory, the muffin fan epoxied to the fresh air duct is something I'm trying to get more cool air into the cab, it might not work but it didn't take long to do it.

The seats are from an Integra and very comfy. Sorry about the relay, that's not suppose to be there but couldn't figure out how to delete it.

I finally got her running, took it out for a 100 mile run after work today. Very different car than the one I parked in Sept. last year. First impressions, lots more power! Handles much better then before, some strange high pitched rattling coming from the either the tranny or under the dash somewhere. I'm very happy.

But I'll pick up from where I left off.

ZTherapy anyone? Straight out of the box.

I had just tighten the crank bolt to 100 ft lbs and was backing off the piston so I could remove the rope from the piston chamber, I forgot about the wrench and started her up and pulled out of the garage,

parked it down on the level where you see it and walked back up for a few tools. As soon as I saw the crank bolt, washer and 1/2" drive I ran back down a shut her off. Thank GOD for woodruff keys.

Hi Chris.

I had the luck of just catching a glimps of the ratchet and bolt on the ground when I was reversing out of the driveway. It was a "WHat is that doing there. Oh sh#t:stupid:" moment after changing vavle stem seals. Its amazing how those things can fall on the ground and not make any clunk sound. You certainly are not the only one.

Your Z looks really clean and neat. Like the colour. You have done a top job on it. Something to be proud of and now its time to enjoy it:cool:

Looks great Grannyknot! A good cut and polish always does wonders for a paint job, new and old. All of your hard work has certainly paid off. Your bumpers appear to be originals but in excellent shape. Did you have them rechromed or were they that good to begin with? Again, wonderful job!
