Thanks for the information regarding the later 280Z decks. The only 280Z I've seen inside is a '76, so I just assumed the later Z's had the same rear deck. The Series I are somewhat more desirable than the later 240's, but I really like the "secret" compartments in the 240's.

I was almost thinking of installing doors on the front seeing as the damage has been done. I could store a spare quart of oil there (or weed, it's legal in my state now! but no smoking in my car!).

I bought my 73 240Z in June of 1977, as a cigarette smoker then, the ashtray needed emptied within a week. I pulled the tray out and to my surprise under there was a very expensive 'Colibri' lighter, a nice pot pipe and an ounce of very good weed. :)
