Posted February 9, 201312 yr comment_414416 I recently thought I wanted to do this conversion. I just ordered a Champion 2 row aluminum radiator with two electric fans. After more research and reading numerous threads on this subject, I have decided to not install the fans right away. I don't think all the fuss and wiring is worth the small hp gain, "if any", that I might get. I will install the radiator and keep the stock fan in place and see how it works out. I'm sure it will be fine. But, my question is this. Before I chose to start off without the electric fans, I had decided to go with a thermostat relay kit that uses a temp sending unit that directly reads the coolant temp. It's just like the temp sending unit that goes to your temp gauge. I think it is the most accurate and reliable set-up. I found this kit at Ledfoot Racing, or their website championradiators.com. So, if I ever did do this conversion, where would this sending unit go? If I put it in place of the temp gauge sending unit, I would lose my gauge. So where else could this sending unit be installed if I was to ever try? February 9, 201312 yr comment_414417 You could use the thermostat housing from a 280Z. They have extra sensors for the EFI management.Motorsport! February 9, 201312 yr comment_414418 This is what I was going to do with mine. I like the 280Z fitment on this. But the electric fans are useful. I have never had any issues overheating of my car. I have never really seen the need for electric fans if your radiator and and OEM thermal clutch fan are working... February 9, 201312 yr comment_414421 ....So, if I ever did do this conversion, where would this sending unit go?Normally you follow the directions included in a Kit. However it is not unusual to see them mounted in the top Radiator Hose. Just past the thermostat housing. The thin wire attached to it, won't prevent the hose from sealing around the thermostat gooseneck.FWIW,Carl B. February 9, 201312 yr comment_414423 The Z store doesnt have them anymore. The Nissan part number is 11061-N4200 so you could try Courtesy Nissan if they can track one down. A few years back they cost $28,00.Still plenty of good second hand ones available.
