cleaning windshield washer bottle

Has anyone used tail/head light lens restorer to clean your washer bottle? Would it shine it up? Thanks alot, TimsZ

Considering it was a gloried milk jug originally, I wouldn't hold out much hope. If your to do list is that short, BlackDragonAuto has a universal windshield washer kit that looks identical to my series I unit for $20. At that price, there's no reason to let smashed bug win.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know of a source for motors that will fit on the windshield water bottle? The one on mine is corroded solid. I had a spare tank from a roadster but the motor on that one is in the same condition.

I have one that I took off of my 74 when I put in a new washer bottle, but I think I took off the wires. You'd have to solder wires onto it.

I read a trick for cleaning yellowed plastic. Immerse in peroxide and expose to sunlight for a day or two. Not sure how well it works or what exact type of plastic but it may be worth trying.

That's a pretty big jar you'll need to immerse the entire washer reservoir- probably a two-gallon one. I suppose you could just do one side at a time? I saw a short YouTube video on this, and the person left the plastic part only party-immersed in the solution, and could see the line where the liquid was.

I wonder if Meguiar's or some company like that has a product to clear up the UHMW plastics.

After a little research.... One person use Coffee grounds & water. the grounds were supposed to be a kind of abrasive that didn't dissolve, like salt or sodium bicarbonate.
