No offense was meant Steve. I just thought that with all of the effort to take those pictures and post them individually, there might be one with the complete car.

Regarding the chome plated "this and that" to exess on the Z ; have you ever seen some of those "low-rider" cars that hop up and down? Given "too much" money (and not enough sense to STOP modifying), there is no limit to how some people will waste it on crap like chromed hinges, latches, toilet seats, and what-not!! LOL

I wondered when the trues would let loose....When I heard on the phone this car was for sale (I am quite familiar with it), I said, "What's he want, 14?" I felt that was a good starting point. Then I was told the price and just shook my head. When I posted that pic of the sway bar, I thought, uh-oh, wonder how long before someone spots that one?!?

The pictures of the car you have included are impressive, this is a beautifull car, but i don't see 28K. I would certainly hope that some day Z cars could sell for that kind of money...however, that would be for a fully restored original car, or a restored and well sorted race car like Jerry Mason's car.

I wish you luck and hope that you can sell it for as much as possible but I personally think you are at least 10k too high.

Steve, I can find some other things on the car.....

I keep hearing the slogan, "Wonder where the money went..." over and over in my mind...

I wasn't trying to trash the guys car, just point out, if he had spent that much money on it, I would expect a car that had been detailed to the "Nth" degree.....

If you look at the dog leg area, you will see that that has been replaced as well, so the car has had rust repairs at one time or another. No crease where the dog leg meets the rocker, and the straight flange is a dead giveaway.... The stock dog leg didn't have a perfectly straight lower flange....

Caveat emptor....

I should imagine that the front sway bar mounting bracket was removed to give access for that front pulley to come off?

Have the "sugar scoop" lamp housings been blended into the front wings ( fenders )? Its hard to tell in photos of yellow cars - but it looks that way to me. Maybe its just the paint colour that makes it look that way.

Strange that in the USA you should call those bumpers WITHOUT the rubber corner trims the "Euro" bumpers. In fact, all European import Z cars always had the rubber trim. The no-trim bumpers are the no-frills base model Fairlady Z ( S30-S ), and Fairlady 240Z ( HS30-S ) items. The "Luxury" spec. Fairlady Z-L ( S30 ) and Fairlady 240Z-L ( HS30 ) had the trim.

He's got $56,000 into that car? Bullshit!

I've got a full boogie 3.0L Sunbelt engine, Motec M48 EMS, Quaife 5 speed sequential trans, Outlaw disk brakes all around, ATL custom fuel cell, C&R custom radiator and heat exchanger, two sets of custom Kodiak 16 x 10 wheels, two sets of Hoosier R3S03 275/45-16 tires, two Cobra Sportline 2 carbon/kevlar race seats, Penske triple 8170 shocks, and $10,000 worth of paid fabrication labor and I'm just touching the $50,000 mark.

That's a $10,000 240 on a good day.

$28K would be reasonable for a 69 or early 70 that was a correct restoration and collectable. But I would not guess that a mixed parts car would be collectable. If I had $28K, I'd be looking at a new 350Z or a perfect '69 240Z.

No offense, but if I wanted a customized Z, I would want to start with a $2000 average car and then put what I wanted into it. A $26K budget for my kind of upgrades and colors would be fun!

Forget this guys dreams, I want John's car. D#mn you did it right!

Sounds like you have had some experience with this sort of thing. Makes me weep to realize that I think I am cool for having camber plates on all four corners of my ITS car!

You want to take $10k for yours?:classic:

Well, we all agree that this guy is out of line on his asking price, but , I do have some good new for those of us that want to see our Datsun go up in value.

My buddy dave just sold his very nice, BRE REPLICA 510, built by Les at classic datsun. (See cars for sale at www.classicdatsun.com) for $19,500.

This car was a well sorted 510 with an FJ20, dual solex's 5 spd and Quaife R180.

Adam Corrola <sp> the guy on "the man show" who is a big datsun fan bought it yesterday. There were 3 people seriously looking at the car...http://classicdatsun.com/fs/index.html
