February 24, 201312 yr comment_416019 Among the Z parts for sale in this listing, there is a tool kit for only $10.00, here's the link: 72 DATSUN Z PARTS Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45763-z-tool-set/?&page=3#findComment-416019 Share on other sites
February 24, 201312 yr comment_416029 I still prefer a wrench with a good, long handle. The last thing you want when you're trying to get the tire hanged on the side of the road is to slip & bang your knuckles or break a stud. Steve- Maybe this picture will help you: It looks like there are couple tube-like things under the strap. February 24, 201312 yr comment_416032 Absolutely. The red pipes are for a bottle jack. Maybe someone was using them to be a cheater bar for the lug wrench. March 4, 201312 yr comment_416774 This was probably a long while ago, but J.C. Whitney had a lug wrench in the catalog that had a swinging cross-arm with weights on it, like a kind of hand-operated impact wrench. You throw the weights around and it hits a stop and gives the nut a jerk. Have you ever seen one of those? March 5, 201312 yr comment_416901 OK, I found an example of the lug wrench I was thinking of. This one is called a Safety impact wrench. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45763-z-tool-set/?&page=3#findComment-416901 Share on other sites
March 5, 201312 yr comment_416903 Pictures of the safety wrench to make that post last longer for later readers. Apparently it rotates a bit before engaging: neat wrench! March 5, 201312 yr comment_416905 Yeah. I think you put the shaft in the center hole, and give the bar with weights a fling and it acts like an impact wrench. If you put the shaft in one of the off-center holes, you get straight leverage instead. It looks functional, but I've seen them in a slightly different design with a nice shiny plating a rubber grip. Any ideas? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45763-z-tool-set/?&page=3#findComment-416905 Share on other sites
March 10, 201312 yr Author comment_417418 Some where along the way, I acquired a jack, 17.5" long in the collapsed position. Decal shows a sedan. It looks partically identical to the shorter jack that came with the early Z cars. Does anyone know what cars and years this jack was supplied with? Thanks,Fixitman Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45763-z-tool-set/?&page=3#findComment-417418 Share on other sites
