240z - not been started in 10 years

Hi,

I have come across what looks like a good 71 240Z for $2300 which I am thinking of buying. The owner knows little about it, it has been garaged for the last 10 years and never been started. It has a little rust but looks good. I don't want to start it because it has been sitting for so long. My questions are what should I be looking for in terms of trouble spots, what should I do to the car before starting it as it has been sitting so long and is 2300 a good price?

I love the Z car, I was thinking I would end up with 280Z or a ZX but a 240Z looks very nice.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Unless its in immaculate condition, I would say you should shoot for under $1500. Check the framerails and floorboards (look from underneath & lift up the carpets inside). Fluids should be changed and probably need to look at the gas tank to make sure it was stored properly. Be ready to invest quite a bit in new seals, gaskets, rubber, etc. I'm enjoying the fun journey on my '72 which was running that I picked up for $2k in Texas. Mine came with a ton of new parts, so it made the deal worth it (at least for me). Best of luck!

It was advertised at $3500 a week or so ago.

Bring a socket and breaker bar to see if it turns over at the crank pulley.

floor boards for rust. Any old fixes for rust and collision etc. The 240z stickers are not period correct, they are ones sold by msa, so most likely it has been resprayed.

I would be interested in coming to check it out with you. I'm not interested in it, just curious about it.
