Posted March 10, 201312 yr comment_417389 After reading posts on this website, and consulting my How to Modify Your Nissan/Datsun SOHC Engine book, I got my hands on two Clifford Research 6-2 headers. The first set is NOS, with absolutely beautiful welds, a nice true thick mounting flange, and is ceramic coated inside and out. The second is used, sandblasted, and coated (not ceramic). There's one small hole I'll have to fix up. The welds aren't as nice, and look to be of the quality of the set I have now. I guess it's safe to say I'm a header nut. I plan to use the ceramic coated one, and got 2nd one just to have around. March 10, 201312 yr comment_417391 Congrats on that. I was looking on ebay for those, didn't find any and gave up. Guess persistance pays off. From my very limited knowledge (I read that book, and "How to hotrod and race your Datsun") I'm guessing the MSA headers might be good for racing and top HP, but not as good as Clifford for mid-range torque, especially important with my AT. Clifford has more stuff than a couple years ago after Jack died so possibly they'll bring them back if enough people show interest. Seen some great looking headers from OZ (on a post here) and Japan (in magazines) but doubt if they'd work with LHD. March 11, 201312 yr comment_417430 I had a Clifford 6-1 that I used on my 66 Mustang and it was a piece of artwork. Terrific sound and it felt like more ponys.Sad to hear Jack is gone, he was a interesting, dedicated car guy.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/45978-looks-like-i-scored-two-clifford-research-6-2-headers-on-ebay/#findComment-417430 Share on other sites

March 11, 201312 yr comment_417531 I contacted them last month regarding their L-Engine headers. They thought they had a few left around, but sadly found they didn't. They said they had no plans to restart either. Nice find! November 18, 201410 yr comment_458852 When this thread popped up again I remembered that just after my 1st post I came across a Clifford equal length 6-2 (Jack use to call them 6=8) so I had it ceramic coated and use it on my L28 and love it. June 2, 20168 yr comment_496079 Interesting method to get over the steering column - what primary pipe diameters do they have please ? Were they ever supplied with a 2-1 collector pipe ? April 11, 20177 yr comment_517818 Not to hijack the thread but I recently got a set of Clifford Research 6-2 headers and the accompanying dual pipe exhaust system. Â I'm fairly new to exhaust work and have only dealt with the compression-slip-fit type connections, does this system require a gasket between those flares pipe ends? April 12, 20177 yr comment_517847 If I can find my old Clifford catalog I'll check. Seems like it couldn't hurt to put a gasket. The auto parts store or a muffler shop could probably find something that would work. Make a paper pattern before you go. Congrats on first post. Not a hijack if it's pertains directly to the thread. Better to have a photo of the headers and car though. April 12, 20177 yr comment_517863 I have a similar set of Hooker headers and I use a copper gasket at the ends. I think I bought the gaskets from Summit Racing. April 19, 20177 yr comment_518536 Thanks for the info guys! Â The flanges are easy to slide off the tube so I'll take 'em off and bring them to a partsource or NAPA and see if they've got anything that could work.
