Holy cow! Trying to post to the classifieds is beyond brutal. Not even practical. Where are you guys posting your stufff for sale these days? I have multiple stuff for multiple year cars with various prices. I am not jumping through the thousand or so hoops to get an ad posted here. Clearly there is a better way or something I am missing.

I too am a victim of trying to improve software that results in more powerful and more beautiful tools but sadly fewer users due to resulting complexity and I know exactly how Mike's feeling about this thread. Take heart, you have no idea how much we appreciate your work on this site.

I used to visit the classifieds daily but now I don't unless I'm looking for something specific. And Z parts are what keeps me happy, so it must be serious.

Back to basics. I mostly just want a one click list of what's new since I last looked in the order they were posted. Don't even care if you divide up cars and PartsforSale and WTB. Posting ads also has to be simplified to entice people to post their ads, or you defeat the entire reason for having the service.

Let us know if there is more feedback we can supply. Thanks for caring.

My comments are by no means meant to be a slam against Mike. I appreciate all of the hard work he puts into this site.

I believe there was a feedback thread on the classifieds when it was first updated. I don't think anything changed, or just not enough for me to notice.

In my opinion, it needs to be simple to be most useful. We only need a few categories:

Cars for Sale (could be broken down into several models if wanted)

Cars Wanted to Buy

Parts for Sale

Parts Wanted to Buy

We have the greatest website for Classic Z Car information. It would be cool if we also had the greatest resource for buyin parts and cars to go along with it.

Again, not a slam, just my opinion for what it's worth.

Hey guys, damn I didn't know you guys weren't enjoying the new datsunclassifieds.com. I spent quite a lot of time on it, but, if the format sucks, it's probably something I should consider changing. The old one was a heck of a lot less capable... however if it worked we should keep it? The new one is awesome for me to manage but if you guys dn't like it...

Ok I have an idea and I need your help. I've re-activated the old classifieds in a new subdomain and wondered if you guys could help me determine how we can make the new software behave like the old software.

Old site: Main Index - The Datsun Classifieds

New site: DatsunClassifieds.com

Can you look at both (your login from czcc should still work) and let me know where I can improve the new software? If we decide the new software isn't going to work, I can look to see if we can just bring the old stuff back online. But, I will need your help... too much time and money spent on the new stuff to just give up on it (for now).

Mike

PS: I want something to work for buying/selling Datsun parts. There's no sense in having it if nobody uses it. :)

I used the new classifieds earlier today to list a couple things for sale. Ouch! That hurt a lot! Maybe it's my PC but I posted cropped pics and won't let me select a rectangular (tall) section. The top and bottom of my pics are missing. I posted the books for sale. I used the old classifieds many times and found them to be very easy to use. I appreciate all your work but I prefer the old site.

I just clicked on the link to the old site. Ahhh. That was so easy! I like the way it's organized. I don't have to search around for what I want to click. Everything is in front of me. On the new site the main choices are in small print on a small line at the top. The main thing I see on the page is a pic of a car. I find it confusing. I hope that info helps.

That is actually the best reason NOT to have it in the normal forums. Too many ads dilute the tech and discussion forums. IMHO...

If that's such a big deal, then exclude them from the "new posts" search, either automatically or manually.

It doesn't seem to hamper tech discussions at HBZ and I find it very useful to have easy and quick access to classifieds. Makes it a lot easier to buy and sell stuff...
