Posted March 16, 201311 yr comment_417978 I am getting ready to paint my 76 280 2+2 and have a few questions. I know that styles or a preference but just would like some feedback. First question; I like the color scheme of the 280 attached. Does anyone know who owns this car or the actual colors. I assume the strips are white but would be nice to know exact colors and where to purchase. I am going to paint the car myself. My current thought is to add a thin orange strip on the inside of each of the white strips and a little orange in my rims. I have a need for some orange in the car. Don't ask. Second question; I am going to add a body kit to my car. I am looking at the MSA Type II kit but not sure what all is out there. Also concerned about material of the parts (i.e. urethane vs fiberglass etc). I currently do not have bumpers or any of the parts that go with the bumpers, front or rear. Do not want to waste people's time. I know we have real problems out there but though it would be fun to see some options. Thanks. March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_417985 Yep. I am very interested. Do you no how much shipping will be? Why are you not using? Just curious. Do not sell to anyone else. Do you know if bumper parts are required to install and if so what parts? I am not familiar with body kits at all. Are they bolted on? Do they need to be welded? March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_417986 JB, one last question, I am assuming for non 2+2 model. If so will it fit on a 2+2? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46032-getting-ready-for-paint-job/#findComment-417986 Share on other sites
March 16, 201311 yr comment_417990 I looked at the MSA web site and they list the 2+2 separate from the coupe but the only difference between the two kits is the side skirts and some people don't use them. As far as me not using it, I bought a 78 280z and it came with the car. I decided to go with 240/260 bumpers that also came with the car. As best I know it just bolts on,maybe a bracket would be needed in the center but should not be hard to fab. It is fiberglass. I checked freight in general and Greyhound express is the only way to go cost wise. It should be about $85. The only problem is you have to pick up at a local bus station. Please check to be sure on the fit for your car. You can call MSA at 800 633 6331 and ask them. I did not notice your car was a 2+2 when I answered your post. I will point out that body kits require some fitting and filling in around the kit. They are not plug and play. If you decide you want it I will knock off $50 for not being able to use the rocker panels and give them to you to sell or trade. Thanks, JB Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46032-getting-ready-for-paint-job/#findComment-417990 Share on other sites
March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_417993 JB, I am sure I will take them. How do you want the payment to work. I am not that familiar with Greyhound but I am sure we have a depot here in Louisville, KY. Just get things ready and let me know. I am going to try MSA and just confirm but makes since that the front and rear pieces are the same. I wonder if the side skirts are at all modifiable to work. Looking at them I would guess more trouble than they are worth to try and modify. I am sure somewhere down the road I can get rid of them or use them on another project. Thanks for the $50 off and let's do this. Thanks. March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_417995 One issue down now how about the photo in the initial post. Anyone able to shed any light on the color scheme.Anyone have 2+2 side skirts they want to part with?I am also looking for a set of vintage pioneer speakers TS-X11's or similar in good working order. I know that this does not match my need for adding a body kit but I have decided to build what I want and like. A little old school and a little new school. Will be adding an 8 track tape player as well. Showing my age. March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_418012 If I have a paint color name for a particular make and model car and even the paint code; how do I go about purchasing the paint? March 16, 201311 yr Author comment_418018 JB, having a little issue with PayPal. Long story. You will see a payment of $1.00. Again long story. Is it possible for you to send me an invoice via Pay Pal. I have no idea how to do that but otherwise we will have a 3-5 day delay. I will keep trying in the meantime.Issue is that I have set up a new account and they want bank info in addition to credit card info. Unfortunately the bank info is tied to another Pay Pal account we can not access. The system let me pay $1.00 but will not let me pay the high amount of $395.00.
