After 2 broken pullers( 3/4" pullers), stripped threads on pins x 2, stripped the threads on one puller (3/4 threads), snapped one 3/4" rod, welded one puller to spindle, cut one spindle and burned out bushing, 12 ton press and 8 hrs later then are out!!!! VICTORY.

Know how you feel. Any serious Z restorer knows what your been though. Its probably the worst job you can do on a Zed. That and a rusted shock in strut tower.

Look at it this way. The worst is now behind you.

Good job Nix! Only 8 hours to get them out, you beat a lot of us by many days! For any pin that is stuck a press seems to be the only way to get them out. As shown in my thread that EuroDat posted above I bought a 20 ton press and that combined with some heat and a mix of acetone and ATF mine finally came out. They are truly a right of passage for any Z restorer. Keep us posted on the rest of your project.

I think the best way to do this is to burn the rubber bushing out of one side and cut the other side of the pin. This will allow the A-Arm to be removed and still leaving 1 side of the spindle pin with the 12mm threads. Now you can now get the pin in a press, with the A-arm removed and still have the puller pulling as you press. This is the way I got the last pin out in less that 20min once I was pulling and pressing. Pin is cut like in my first pic and it is the Pin on the top..
