April 12, 201311 yr comment_420356 My advice is to call around. I had ZERO luck with my Type A four speed, but shops seemed more ready to work on the B types of trannies. I wish you luck, but I would look up Awesome Z, as he is one of the foremost experts in Z's in Houston, he may know of somebody or maybe he can do it himself. They are very reputable in the Z community in Houston. April 13, 201311 yr comment_420443 Was about to say that any transmission shop that is still in business should be a GOOD shop, but know there is one here in Salem where the State AG is never far from their front door. The Awsome Z suggestion gets my vote either to do the work or point you in the right direction...... Good folks. April 13, 201311 yr comment_420446 Back in the late 80's I took my 4 speed tranny to Mack's Transmissions to have seals & syncro's replaced. He quoted me a price of $300 if I dropped it off out of the car. When I went to pick it up, he said he was only going to charge me $200 as I didn't need new syncro's. I really appreciated his honesty, as a lot of places would have said nothing about the syncro's and just let me pay the price quoted. I wouldn't have been any wiser. It's a ratty old place in a not so good part of town but it looks like they're still in business and if I had work to do again, I'd definitely give them a shot.Mack's Standard Transmission8680 Cullen Boulevard Houston, TX 77051(713) 738-1555 Mack's Standard Transmission 1-800-392-8607 - Standard Manual Transmission Parts - Houston, Texas Edited April 13, 201311 yr by moonpup Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46254-transmission-work-in-houston/#findComment-420446 Share on other sites
