Definitive booster info needed !

Unkle

Recommended Posts

I need the definitive answer for a brake mod that is nearly complete !

The car : 1970 240z

The master cylinder : Wilwood 1''

The calipers : Toyota SW12 4x4 with stainless braided lines etc.

The rotors : vented 300zx

So these are on , new , 30 miles .

Booster is stock 1970 , obviously needs help - brake pressure needed is a bit too much

for a snappy stop - still ok for regular driving mind you , but needs a quicker ''response'' .

Is there a ''nearly bolt on'' solution using a 280z etc. part , without having any fitment issues

with the clutch master etc ? It seems each car is going to be different as each mod is different .

Thanks for any educated / first hand experienced responses ! :)

The later 240Z boosters are bigger, right?

Chuck

I don't know - I'm asking !

Research shows 8'' 280 booster works without major issues maybe , but

without really knowing . Help please ! :ermm:

I was hoping someone else would pop in here and agree with me. I'm seeing that 73-78 is bigger. I bet you can find the answer on HybridZ. Hmmm...I have a 1972 240Z and I think the booster is the bigger style. I'll look at it when I get home.

There are three main types of vacuum power booster on the 2 seater Z

1. 6" The 1969 to jun-72 have codes E46 (series 1 & 2) and E87 on the series 3 240Z

2. 7-1/2" The 240Z series 4 and 260Z have the code E30

3. 7-1/2" The 280Z is also 7-1/2" dia. but has codes N42 & N43.

2 + 2 seater with 9" version

260Z Code N37

280Z code N4210 & N4310

Anything after June 72 should fit in and give you an increase in braking power. The 2+2 booster will require mods, but I can't remember what is involved.

Hope that helps

Chas
