Posted April 22, 201311 yr comment_421185 Hi guys,It sure looks like State Farm doesn't want my policy anymore. A 6-month policy for the Z went up by $200 with my last renewal! Crazy they just renewed at this rate after looking at my policy. Anyway, now that my Z, which I drive under 1,000 miles a year, has gone way up... I'm looking at other alternatives. Can you guys share what you are using and any kind of rates? Here's what I've got:100k/300k Liability100k Property damagePersonal Injury protectionComprehensive 100/dedCollision 500/dedEmergency road serviceUninsured motorist 100k/300k/20k$277.18 premium (6mo)with multi car discountSame coverage on my 2000 Lexus LX470 is only $241. April 22, 201311 yr comment_421188 Hagerty. I pay the same to cover both my cars with an agreed upon value of $5000 each than I paid USAA for liability only with about the same coverage you have. You have to have a locked storage for your Z, and you must have a daily driver for you and your wife. They will ask for proof of insurance on both of your daily drivers. With my clean record (last moving violation in 1991), I think I'm paying about $250/year total for that coverage. April 22, 201311 yr Author comment_421190 Did some searching and found many of you already recommend Hagerty Insurance. I made a visit over to Hagerty (http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=CGCunC6Z0UYnwKY6PlAL7-oDQD_Tdm7YD9Ovu9j3AjbcBEAEgoOnsBFCM9bns-P____8BYMnm_ovMpNQZoAHY3u7yA8gBAagDAcgD0wSqBLgBT9BpSyNBUJilrPMZHgW9rEFYZBGJVE3F2-clegMl4izcf2rRjBDJCMbsQswAcZktpBw2YagFlMMVWDxOOqtM4vxARYWzT-uvit45Vx8x31mR6YlDgIfv0Ha85XXdenNfJnVWzfDMN7xpdFcCgSVaP34VbBN48ptklzjFfW2V4zIWrOdNRSUs63TOh_ZbXbS7FbJjVZDjJbQKltPJyx_OtSdt40arRshdQ_0Y4aoBkWC6qxkp1ahs54gGAYAHkKGRDQ&num=1&cid=5Gg4Jq2K8P8Fdq7V9xPOhhUi&sig=AOD64_12Ln7cHXsEYByydZk7NBUdb0ortg&client=ca-pub-5869105080540878&adurl=http://www.hagerty.com/Collector-car-insurance/Auto-insurance-overview%3Faff%3Dgoog_br%26utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dcpc%26utm_content%3Dbranded%26utm_term%3Dhagerty%2520insurance%2520company%26utm_campaign%3DHagerty%2BInsurance%2BBranding%2BGDN%26mkwid%3DclQEEBRnU%26pcrid%3D16536192524%26kw%3Dhagerty%2520insurance%2520company%26mt%3D&nm=26&mb=2) ... and found a rate of $375/year for better coverage ($0 deductible). I used a total value of $20k for the car (restored cost), and zero deductible... not a bad deal.Has anyone actually had to file a claim with Hagerty? April 22, 201311 yr comment_421193 I have Hagerty also. $144 per year $5000.00 value. You are limited to the amount of mileage and how you use the vehicle. Call them up. April 22, 201311 yr comment_421217 Mike.....I also switched from State Farm to Hagerty's. My rate for Hagerty's is $1,000.00 per year for all 5. Four are insured for $25,000.00 and the fifth (71) is insured for $30,000.00. I have a friend who totaled a 65 Porsche with $57,000.00 agreed value...Hagerty's stroked the check....no problem. April 22, 201311 yr comment_421235 Hagerty also. I knew before the car was finished they were going to get a call. Had to fill out a long form, current DD insurance policy, photos sent online. Was accepted a week later with the agreed value on the form. My DD insurance agent told me they could not come close to what Hagerty charges, they are specialists in that field. I raised the value this year on the Z without any problems and very little in premium. I've never had to make a claim, and hope I never do. The Roadster is on the policy, the 521 pick-up will be added when it is road worthy. April 22, 201311 yr comment_421271 Mike,I am an insurance agency owner and car enthusiest. We represent a wide variety of collector car companies here in the New England area. Your really can’t go wrong with companies such as Haggerty and Grundy. Pricing is almost identical and they write Agreed Value (guaranteed value) coverage. Usually no appraisl needed. My own cars are with Hagerty because they have exceptional claims service. I hear the most compliments, by far, about Hagerty after a claim. (Grundy’s is good also). If you can find an agent or agency that knows what they are doing then I would go through them rather than buying direct (online, over the phone). Most people don’t realize the price is the same either way but you get the added avantage of their expertise in coordinationg your coverages and recommendations from an expert. You also have an advocate for claims when needed. Any agency that is really involved in this type of insurance will carry Hagerty, Grundy & others. They are not difficult for an agency to pick up.Good luck. April 23, 201311 yr comment_421296 Mike,I have Hagerty too. About $240 per year, zero deductible with an agreed upon value of $17,500. Policy also covers loss of spare parts but I can't recall the max value of them.Peter Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/46336-classic-z-insurance/#findComment-421296 Share on other sites
