Correct Decals

I am starting to gather all the bits for re-assembly and have a question about the engine bay decals. The car is a 1970 shipped to Canada (S/N HLS30UN006513), so it is a non-emission set-up car. My question is "what are the correct decals for the air cleaner box and the under side of the hood"? Are the ones that are sold by various suppliers for a 1970 correct?

240dkw, I am going to make an educated guess about what would be correct for your decal. My first guess is that your air cleaner may not have had the

snorkel decal or the tune-up decal, but just had the single maintenance decal. see this thread forhttp://www.classiczcars.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-s30/23843-question-air-box-sticker.html by way of explanation.

My second guess would be that possibly your air cleaner housing did not have any decals at all. It has been said that very early, ie., 1969-70, car had no decals.

I just did an advanced search for "air cleaner decals" and came up with a lot of good reading.

Dan: Thanks for the link, when I did a search that thread did not show up. I think you are correct that it did not have any decals. I think I will go with that.

Travel'n Man: Thanks, but no info in that thread to help me with my question. Closest is the post about the 69/70 hood sticker, but I do not have a air pump.

Dan, glad I could help. In restoring my car, I have found that generally there is no "definitively correct" in many situations. As your vin # is not super-early,

I would be very comfortable in using that single "service Instruction" decal shown in the link I mentioned. As you had said, your carb setup has no

"adjust screw C" which rules out the large tuneup decal, and without the snorkel carb heat, the other two decals are eliminated. So, in my humble opinion,

you would be correct either using the single decal or no decals at all. It all depends on the vision you have for your car and preferance for decal under-hood eye candy.

Dan, Not sure if you are still looking for info on this, but here is a picture of the original emissions sticker on my car, as we discussed earlier they are both Canadian non-emissions cars and very close in S/N. I am quite confident that this is the original sticker as the underside of the hood has never been repainted. It's strange that the sticker mentions an air pump but my car definitely didn't have one.

Mike: That is odd, I am sure there was never a underhood decal on mine. I do not think it ever had a repaint under the hood and I could not see any sign of glue or less faded paint in the sticker area before I had it painted.

This is the best photo of the manifold I have. It has the flat spots for the air tube but no holes and as well the are casting holes for the heat riser but they are not tapped. As well,here is how it looks with no air cleaner decals
