Leon, Looking at your pics posted above, the colors of the resin in your two pics appears very different. Is that truly the case, or is that a factor of the camera and/or lighting at the time the photo was taken?

The one on the orange car is very faded, so yes, it does look very different. However, I'm sure it started out yellow just like the others.

Leon and Michael,

As I sort through 60+ fender emblems from the 260z's and 280z's, I find that the colors arround the "Z" seem to range from cloudy white on up to a somewhat bright red, with alot of faded yellows and oranges in between. I wonder if it's possible that Datsun painted that portion of the emblem with different color schemes, or if all of these pieces just represent various degrees of fading? Of course, one never knows what the PO's may have done to alter the original appearance on these after nearly 40 years. It looks to me, that short of having a brand new emblem to use as a model, I may find difficulty in replicating the correct color for these emblems. (And all along I thought that the resinous base material was going to be the hard part of the job):disappoin

If you take plastic cleaner or very light rubbing compound that white haze should rub off, mine had a little and it rubbed off.

I'll have to try that! :)

FWIW, the old, broken emblems that I have are definitely more orange than the new emblems on the green car.

Here is a page showing new OEM parts:Datsun 240Z Parts, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX,Emblems

Look down the pare shows 260 and 280, they look different.

Interesting. I wonder if it's just the lighting as it looks like they used a flash on the 260Z emblems but not on the 280Z ones. FWIW, I used a flash when I took my pics. Photos can be deceiving...
