240Z Brake MC upgrade Questions

I ended up buying a 15/16 280 MC from Matt Hurr a while ago here. I am upgrading to 4x4 S12+8 calipers front, and 240sx rear. I currently have the stock 240Z MC and when I opened the box this is what I had . . .

MC

Fluid Cups

Filters

Fluid Cup brackets (to tighten around openings)

Now, I noticed that I didn't have any of the bleeder valves, what type do I need to buy to put into the SIDE of the MC?

Can I just take the Front and Rear Lines out of the bottom of my stock 240Z MC, and run them into the bottom of my new 15/16 MC? Do I need to buy any adapters?

Finally I see a small hole on the opposite side of the MC's bleeder valves. It looks like a screw can go into there, but there is none. Do I need a screw for that hole?

Bench Bleeding

When bench bleeding, I know that I loosen the bleeder valves and have hoses going from them back into each respective cup. But what about the bottom holes (the holes that the actual brake lines connect to)? Will I need to block those? I will be doing the bench bleeding OFF the car, so I won't have any lines to block the bottom holes.

I was thinking of doing the BB on the car, but thought it would be better to do it off to be able to do it slowly. But, please share your thoughts.

I've already searched and read and found directions. But no-one talks about the bottom holes when BB off the car.

The small hole on the opposite side of the MC's bleeder valves is to put a special size screw that stop rear brake piston.

You better get another 15/16 BMC or brand new Willwood 1" BMC.

You serious? I can't believe this. I had this sitting up in my closet for like 8 months waiting to be installed only to find out it doesn't have all the parts I need! Hope I can find the guy . .

Anyway, I going with rear disk 240SX calipers so I wouldn't need the special screw right?

Also, I thought that I only needed those valves in the output to the brake lines if I was using Drum rear brakes. Since I'm using calipers, I shouldn't need them. So, would I be able to simply unhook my stock lines from the MC and connect them to the new MC?

The parts you are missing are hard to find without buying another MC. It might be easier to get one from RockAuto And for $53.00 you have a complete unit without the 2 reservoirs. Its only $30.00 with core.

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and just purchased a new one from Rock auto. Would make things easier and it isn't to big of a dent in the wallet. Just wish the guy that sold me it would have told me it was missing all the important parts HAHA.

Did you actually get a new (to you...) 15/16" master from Rock auto or is it just ordered? There have been plenty of discussions about them be NLA from most common vendors for some time. Interesting to find out if Rocky Horror Auto Show has some again.

The wilwood 1" master (PN 260-8794 ) has become a accepted replacement since. There is a nice thread on Hybrid about installation methods and requirements.

Best thing about them is that they are NEW, not some rebuilt god knows how many times POS .....

We will see, it said it was in stock.

I did read about the 1" Wilwood, but I didn't want to purchase an entirely new $140 MC, when I had already bought my current MC for $65, now the replacement is 40, rather then $140. If this one fails, then I'll just say screw it and buy the 1". Not a big deal either way. :-) The car is only driven a few times a month.

I have used RockAuto to order a MC for my 280Z. It was a new 7/8" Beck/Arnley and came in record time. The 15/16" is only available in re-manufactured, but it has all the parts you need and its probably cheaper than sourcing all the other parts not to mention the time spent searching.

Good to hear. Shipping was pretty bad ($14) but not a big deal since it covers the return shipping of the core. Any tests I could do to both of them before putting it on the car, to see if one is in better shape then the other?

Since I would be able to choose which one to use . . . why not? But if it isn't worth the hassle then I'll just go with the rebuilt one from Rock Auto. :-)

Well, just realized that this is only a "send in and rebuid" order. So, I have to send them my part, and they rebuild it. I'm going to have to call them to make sure that they will rebuild it with all new screws and valves, etc. Since mine doesn't have any of those haha.
