240Z Competition Parts Catalogue

Hey Guys

Can anyone help me with a 240Z competition parts catalogue (hard or soft copy) dated prior to 1974.

I am desparately trying to get Triple Mikuni/Solex carbs homologated into Group Sc historic racing here in Australia and need evidence that they were in fact avaliable at that time.

I'm also working on electronic ignition and oil coolers.

The parts caterlogue I have is titled

Datsun 240Z.260Z.280Z Sports Option Parts

and dated Jan 1978

I need a copy of the earlier issue prior to 1974

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact me directly afildes@klmgroup.com.au or at this site.

cheers

Hi Alan,

I have the December 1973 version for the S30 / HS30. I used to have an earlier one for them too - but made the mistake of lending it to a classic car magazine here in the UK. Never got it back - they "lost" it. Great.

I also have the 432 / 432R one, but that will not help you as the scrutes will look at the VIN code on your car and conclude that its not a "PS30".

Good luck with trying to persuade them to let you use the carbs ( and all the rest of the Sports Option stuff ) - the Historic circuit racing guys here in the UK have tried to get this stuff allowed before now, but the cloth-cap brigade won't let 'em ( even though they allow all sorts for the British and Italian cars ). The poor Z cars have to run virtually stock - not even LSD!

The Historic Rally guys have it quite a lot better, as its run under FIA rules - so all the FIA homologated stuff ( up to around 1978 ) can get in OK. Will your local scrutes not allow stuff under FIA homologation?

Anyway, here's a copy of the title page:

- and here's a copy of Page 5 with the carbs and manifolds on it.

The total document is 12 pages long and its pretty comprehensive.

Size restrictions will limit me to posting just a reduced copy here - but I can e-mail you some big files if you have the space and no restrictions on your e-mail. Let me know.

All the best,

Alan T.

Afildes,

try to get the FIA Homologation papers for the H(L)S 30 and H®S 30 from your national motorsports authority or the japanese motorsports authorities or from NISSAN directly. I think anywhere here in the Rallye&Racing forum you can find the Homologation Nr. you have to look for. There the 44 Mikuni is homologated for Group 4 only, as Alan mentioned. Electronic ignition is not allowed in group 3 (may be Lumitron), oil cooling also only in Group 4. For FIA events you should also look into App. K of the FIA rules, esp. concerning ignition in your case.

The story of AlanT's life - leant it out (to a magazine) & never got it back....

Anyhow, Doehring is correct with the group assignments & part listings. Homologation papers for the S30 are still available from CAMS for ~$70.

I also have all the listings of the x-flow head & other Z parts, along with the Formula Pacific twin-cam L-16/L20B catalogue. But you have a fat chance of finding a Group G 16-valve head these days....

Good luck Alan(F), I know a few drivers that would be interested in running triples on their 'Sc' cars...

BTW i have seen 160RWkW from an 'Sc' 240Z with modified SU's.

You said it..........

I've lost all sorts of stuff that way, but I've learned my lesson with them now. They usually blame it on their printers, or say "we sent it back by post - didn't you receive it?".

The stuff I did get back was usually dog-eared to hell and had been used as a coaster for their morning coffee.

Don't lend stuff to magazines any more.........

Good to hear that's what you needed.

The very best of luck with trying to get the carbs accepted ( and all the other stuff ).

Failing that you could go to Japan and buy a 432 and see if the scrutes will allow you to race that! Now that would be interesting!

Good luck,

Alan T.

  • 7 years later...

This thread was just getting interesting, does anyone have Alan Thomas' email address? PM may be best, its required so that I may as a club appointed representative seek to retain assistance in settling the question of using sports option parts in AU historic type events, once and for all.

If you are reading this Alan, mine is r_greenup@yahoo.com.
