D Hubcaps

You do I guess, as long as you have a car to put them on, or intend to put them on at some stage. It was a FWIW, just seemed like a weird thing to bring back a thread just to say i got it, kind of like wohho, I got it and you guys didn't? However if you are just a hoarder of Z bits, who buys stuff simply to put on a shelf, then my opinoin of you is not very high, I am tired of people hoarding huge amounts of parts, just so they can say they have them in their shed. It makes it a bitch for the rest of us to buy parts. (the hubcaps weren't for me, but for a friend with an early 240 which they would be correct for, as can be seen my 240 needs the later Z hubcaps, of which i am trying to put together a set) Admittedly I will use mags most of the time, but for classic runs etc it would be nice to have a period looking and correct car, and from all accounts, between the flex of the wheels and the weight of the hubcaps, if you leave them on all the time, they don't stay there for too long.

Just seemed like a weird response to do, but then I guess engineers aren't like the rest of us commoners ROFL

Hey Z Kid

I dont want to start up with you, but if I have to I will. Just remember, you started it by big noting yourself on the list about the purchase of your z style caps. If anyone is honking their own horn it is you and not me, I was just trying to have a bit of fun on the list.

Alfadog realised my light hearted banter and actually posted that he won because he has mags!

Yes I do have a car to put them on. It is an early 71 and the D caps are correct for it (it is a close VIN number to Richards car). I will not be hoarding the caps, they will be used for shows etc in the future when the car is totally finished and back to as original condition as I can possibly get it. With the addition of these caps I think that I can now get pretty darned close.

I am of the same opinion as you, I dont believe in hoarding z car parts in a shed and big noting myself about all the spares that I have. In fact, apart from the original wheels and caps, I have no z car parts stored, and only buy what I need when I need it.

In fact now that I purchased the D caps I am considering selling the set of z caps that I bought a few years back. I grabbed these when they came up knowing that they were incorrect for my car, but I also didnt expect to be able to buy any of the D style caps abywhere here in Australia. I have been involved with zeds for a while now and have never seen any D style ones for sale in Australia.

I want to make it clear why I posted to the list in the first place about purchasing the caps. I wasnt trying to show off to you guys that I purchased them; rather to close the discussion thread off and let everyone know that the caps had been sold so that Richard wouldnt get any more inquiries from you guys about them.

I expected Richard to post something about the caps being sold, and did wait a few weeks till I posted the reply.

I am not a snob and am trying to fit in with you guys as Im realtively new to the list, but if you guys treat people like this, there are better places to hang around on the internet for z car discussions.

Im sorry if I offended or upset anyone with my reply, and z kid if you treat people like this normally, then yes, Im afraid you are just a commoner.

Last night I started writing a reply to that effect. I thought Z kid took it personally and felt that you were showing off when it was plainly obvious to me that you just wanted to say that you bought them so there's no need to ask Richard about them anymore.

I hope you don't judge everyone by one persons actions Joseph. I for one would like you to stick around.

cheers

Joseph,

Sorry for misunderstanding your original post, I meant no harm, nor did i intend for you to take any of it seriously. Its just they way I come across sometimes. Please hang round, I am new to Z's, and any fellow australian enthusiasts who know about them are likely to come in useful to me and others at some stage(with knowledge and maybe even practical help), however as you can see from the pic, mine has a long way to go before it can once again be a proud Z.

Once again, my sincere apologies

Chris

PS When its finished, make sure you chuck some pics up of the beast :)

PPS next time "hubcaps are sold" would avoid all this confusion

No hard feelings from my end, just glad that the air is clear. I didnt realise that someone would read my reply the way you did I guess and it came as a bit of a shock to see you slandering me on the website.

Again, I meant no harm by my posting that I had purchased the caps, and just wanted to close the discussion thread off.

I do have some electronic pics of my car but I dont really want to post them at this stage as they are now a little dated. I have recently redone the front end body work of my car and the pics that I have were taken a few years back before the work was done.

Im going to borrow a digi camera when I can and get some more current pics. Ill post them to the site when I get them. I suppose that I could post the pics that I have of all but the front end as the remainder hasnt changed since they were taken.
